Deaf access consultancy for live events
Most agencies supply interpreters. We design the entire access experience. From legal compliance and access audits through to production coordination and on-the-day management - PI advises, plans and delivers. It's why the organisations that take Deaf access seriously work with us.
We helped establish the legal precedent that BSL access at live events is a requirement, not a courtesy. We advise on your obligations under the Equality Act 2010 (England, Scotland, Wales) and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (Northern Ireland) — so you're covered, not just compliant. For events in Ireland, we advise under the Irish Sign Language Act 2017.
We assess your current Deaf access provision and tell you what's working, and support you with practical recommendations to develop an equitable access service for deaf and deafblind customers.

Our testimony in the landmark Little Mix BSL case helped establish that BSL access at live events is a legal requirement under the Equality Act 2010 - not optional. That ruling changed the industry.
In September 2021, Wembley Stadium committed to BSL interpreting at every concert as standard - with PI as the appointed provider. Proactive access at the national stadium. By default, not by exception.
Performance Interpreting was part of the inaugural Signature Hall of Fame intake in November 2022 - the highest recognition in the BSL interpreting industry - for outstanding contribution to interpreting services and Deaf access.
Appointed Deaf Access provider for the 2023 King's Coronation and subsequent Royal events and state ceremonies - managing BSL interpreting, hearing loops and live captions across every site and screen.
Launched in 2026 - a free app for Deaf attendees to find interpreted events, see interpreter names, use on-site support tools, and share feedback.

Built from the community up - by someone who understood the need first-hand.
Performance Interpreting grew from responding to Deaf audiences who wanted access - not from selling a service nobody asked for. Founded by someone who is hard of hearing, PI was built on genuine understanding of what it means to be left out of the live experience. That perspective shapes everything we do.
